Q: White Stains on the cover of MAC !!!!

Tell you what? You've ruined your exterior case & this damage is not covered by warranty. Toothpaste? You're kidding, right? From Apple:

• Use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the computer’s exterior. Avoid getting moisture in any openings. Do not spray any type of liquid directly on the computer.
• Don’t use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.

There is none, other than replacing your case.

What in the world did you use on your outer casing to cause white stains? Something that doesn't play nice with aluminum, it seems. Short of sandblasting I don't know how you'd get any stains off of the casing. Just bite the bullet and have Apple replace the cover or lid or whatever if it bothers you - and then follow wjosten's advice when cleaning your MBP in the future.

Did you notice the OP used "toothpaste" to try & fix this, as well as some unknown "solution"?

You can't make this stuff up.

Now the mac will smell minty fresh :)

No - you can't make it up - you can't even imagine it sometimes.

BTW - thanks again on the Airport Extreme recommendation - it will be here Tuesday. Right now I'm in my new apartment but tethered by Cat 5...

You Ruined It forget it......................keep it safe in future and to be truthfull your mac would be old one day and its normal even if u handel it with care some or the other day something is going to happen .....yours is normal but there are many others who have big problems then yours just forget it and move on and Do take CARE AND USE YOUR BRAINS AND DONT USE STUFF LIKE TOOTHPASTE OR ANYOTHER IN FUTURE...

Clean it with gental hands and with soft cloth no liquad thing

You killed the resale value, but otherwise it doesn't matter. Just use it. Maybe the stains will fade over time.

In all honesty, if you are that concerned about looks, use one of the many skins that are available to cover the entire body or just the top section.

Google search "Macbook Pro Skins" for a very large selection.
