My ipod wont synch with itunes,

I moved my itunes from my laptop to my pc using the ipod as a hard disk, and now my ipod wont synch, sometimes it starts and then just hangs and says cannot copy blah blah blah due to an unkown errer 50. When i run the diagnostics the ipod cannot be found but it shows up in the list on the left of itunes and attempts to synch. Any help would be much appreciated as im desperate to get it working again, i only moved my itunes from my laptop because it is dieing and did'nt want to lose all my music, it seems that i may have inadvertantly lost it anyway!

I'm having the same trouble. Classic iPod 160Gb. Most of my music is on the iPod, I downloaded a few tracks from iTunes yesterday - they didn't synch. About 6 months worth of music (10 or so albums) which I've imported either from the original disks and or Amazon music MP3s don't synch at either although they show up in iTunes and play fine on my Macbook. I'm on iTunes 12.5.5 and since that was downloaded (as part of an OS upgrade I seem to remember) i've had no end of trouble - it 'lost' all my playlists - took me ages to restore all my playlists from back ups.

Do I need to 'organise my library'? How do you do that without trashing all the playlists?

Any suggestions, much appreciated

Have you seen this article yet?

iTunes displays -50 error message when syncing iPod on Windows XP

Are the problem tracks ones that you downloaded from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes?

Hi, thank you for the reply, unfortunetly i have tried all the suggestions on that link (and quite a few more).

The message is completely random as to whether its a download from the itunes store or something i have imported or a cd that i have added to my itunes. I have got to a point now where it will synch a certain amount of tracks (or photo's, books, etc) and then just give me an -50 message regardless of what it is i am trying to synch, my 80gb classic has now become a 50mb classic!

Have you tried rebuilding your iTunes library to rule out the possibilty of a corrupted library file?

Thank you for the continuing help. I tried the above and still no joy, but i have noticed a number of people with the same problem as myself, and some murmouring about an update to itunes may have caused some compatability issues with the classic ipod, i don't know whether the update could have caused the problem or not?

Not that I'm aware of and the number of affected users so far has been pretty minimal.

Do you have any Amazon purchases in your iTunes library?

No, apart from a few from Play.com they're all from the itunes store.

If you remove these problem tracks from the sync process, are you still able to sync other content? Can you try removing these problem tracks from iTunes and redownloading them again (at no cost) via iCloud to see if that helps?

I have to same problem. A new ipod which finally synced once; so all my music moved, but when I try to sync podcasts and audio books, the message is that my ipod can't be found. Even though it shows up on my itunes list.

Is the enable disk use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab?
