Q: dictionary on my dashboard is not working. any suggestions?

May the cursor is somewhere up on the dictionary (above dictionary)

How long do you have to hover? I have tried hovering for about 2 seconds on the top part of the app, and various intervals above the app up to about an inch and a half. No dice yet.

I have tried all these things, but when I hover anywhere on or near the app nothing is appearing (cursor).  This has been driving me nuts for several months now.  Help!

I was having the same problem as agentkirkwood and scrappycats are having. I found that the cursor changes shape only if I hold down the 'command' key while slowly moving the cursor up from the app. The cursor changed to the I-beam (insertion) shape, but it did open the dictionary.

I found the solution!! Instead of hovering over the widget until the arrow cursor appears, all you have to do is shift-click it! It'll twitch a bit, but after that it should go back to normal *phew*

This worked for me on MacOS Sierra, although I used Terminal to delete these files and then rebooted.
