where is the automator documentation?

Trying to learn Automator to do a few simple things but can't locate any Apple Manuals. Don't feel like buying a $30 book unless necessary - where's the docs?

Automator-OTHER, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Try these. The first is not hosted by Apple. The second is on the Apple Developer Site. You do not need to be a paid developer to access these. Use your Apple ID and password, or ... not.

  1. Mac OS X Automation. Note the Automator link. There is also an over-view video on Automator circa 10.6 Snow Leopard. British accent.
  2. Mac Developer Library. Enter Automator or AppleScript in the search box. Automator documents appear 5 years old.

Apple's totally remiss in providing details. These are dated, but should get you started:

Introduction to Automator tutorial at http://automator.us/leopard/video/index.html

http://www.macosxautomation.com/automator/examples/ex04/index.html

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2241804 for links to a four-parter by Sal Saghoian on Automation in Snow Leopard but should apply to the new iOSified OSs.
