Bonjour slows down my computer, do I need it for iTunes, or can I uninstall it?

Is it necessary for iTunes, or would it be okay to uninstall the program?

Bonjour handles Home Sharing, the remote app, and syncing to Apple TVs. If you're doing any of that, it's best not to uninstall Bonjour.
