Just saying, I don't think you need home button to restore. You can also use assistive touch instead of the home button. Same thing, but might take a few seconds longer to open it up.

-Kevin-, the poster has disabled his iPod by entering the incorrect screen-lock passcode too many times. He does not have access to the iPod. To regain use of the iPod you have to place the iPod in recovery mode. Usually you use the Home and Power buttons to place the iPod in recovery mode.

I ran the program and it says "The program can't start because QTMLClient.DLL is Missing"

i tried to use the program and it ran with no error but nothing seemed to happen with the ipod and was never restored.  does anyone else know about a work around for this issue?

I was in the same situation as you. So what I did was I plugged my ipod (it was on by the way) into the computer and let it sync into itunes. I went on 'help' then 'run diagnosis' and when i checked it was back to normal. I hope yours work out fine too. Good luck!

how can you do this with out recovery mode, as i dont want to loose all my pictures and music

You can't, you have to restore and thus erase the iPod.
