How to rebind hotkeys? Ventrilo/WoW/iTunes/Spotlight?

I tried going into System Preferences -> Keyboard but I can't find the solution to my problems.

When I'm in-game in WoW, whenever I press the Shift key, this arrow pops up pointing towards Spotlight, I want that to stop

When I try to speak on Ventrilo while holding down "Q" as my hotkey, it won't work, but if I use Middle Mouse key, it works

When I try to use my Mouse5 hotkey, it pauses my iTunes

This all happens while I'm in-game.. I can't figure out how to fix this ): I just upgraded to Mountain Lion so I'm kind of nubby. If anyone can help me please & thanks I'll super appreciate it (:
