Q: Why does my iPhone4 not have this option?

I do not have the option to share Internet connection with my iPad if I'm out.. The personal hotspot option doesn't even show on my device. Is there an update I need to do or do I contact my phone contract supplier.

Make sure your iPhone 4 carrier has the service available, take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3574 click on the view list of carriers link at the bottom of the page.

Only appears if your carrier supports Personal Hotspot, and such is provisioned on your account.
