i cant find my library folder, what can i do. please help

The user's Library folder is hidden in Mountain Lion (and Lion). To go there, hold down the option key while selecting Library from the Go menu in the Finder.

Thomas, I would appreciate your help. I have the problem of not finding my Library as well. I need to install a large number of fonts. I'm on OS 10.7.5 and can't find Libray under Go as you suggest. Where is it? Help!

Thomas was trying to indicate that you should hold down the Option key when you click "Go" on the Finder menu on the top of your screen. If you do that, (and continue to hold the key down) then, "Library" should show in the list for you.

Can you also advise me how to install fonts safely? There must be a way which bypasses opening Library.

Use Font Book to install fonts. Open them in the program and install and otherwise manage them there.

This solve my issues with finding the library folder. I then was able to follow other procedures to get my photostream working again. Thanks.

Once you have opened the user's library, drag the folder to the sidebar, it can be accessed from there

permanently...no need then to use Go Menu.

Hi, I can't find my Library folder. When I went to go, held down the option key the window comes up saying the folder can't be found. Also, I tried to verify permissions in disk Utility and get a message "

Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired."

Does anyone know what could be going on here? Please help.

Even though it says it "will not be repaired," you should try repairing disk permissions anyways. It might solve it.

@RyHy: My guess is that since the User Library folder contains lots of sensitive files that could seriously muck up your system if modified, they hide it so that only (slightly) more advanced users that really need to access it are able to easily. Obviously, though, some issues arise from this approach.

Nobody can answer that except for Apple, and they're not talking. The most likely guess, though, is that too many people were messing around in their user Library folder and mucking things up. Now, at least, people who get in there have to at least do a little research first (or have some deeper knowledge in the first place), which reduces the likelihood of someone mucking things up.

You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

fyi, yes just open finder window, hold option key and go to Go file....

if you like drag Library into Sidebar and you won't have to remember where it is...

if you want to remove it just hold Apple key and drag it to "vaporize it" with
