Q: iTunes import to new computer incomplete

Hello,

After buying a new MacBook I attempted to import my old library residing on my PC via wireless Home Sharing. Unfortunately, it appears that the process was somewhat incomplete. The library on my MacBook only has 89 items, where as my original PC library has over 4000.

Is there a way to either

A) restart the import process so that it can be completed, or

B) delete my entire MacBook library and re-import my PC library?

Thank you for your help,

Mike

Use Windows Migration Assistant to get all your data from old Windows computer to new Mac.

    Answer to my own question...

Opted to delete my old library and start over from scratch. (Option B)

Selected each catagory (eg Music, Videos, Books, Apps) and hit command-A (for select all), and then hit delete. Answered yes to the question of trashing my files.

Then, opened iTunes on old PC and made sure that Home Sharing was enabled.

At this point, I was concerned that when I went back to my MBP, the import button was greyed out in iTunes when I selected my PC within Home Sharing...

The secret: select the entire PC library via Home Sharing on the MBP, and then hit command-A. At that point, the import button was enabled.

FYI: You are only importing the media, not the actual iTunes library.

If you copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder across, your iTune slibrary will be identical (playlists, date added, artwork, comments, etc.)
