Boot Camp 3.1 32 bit download problem

Manual or Apple Software Update of Boot Camp 3.1 won't work

Manual download of file seems to be broken (icon for program is not the same as the ones for BC3.2,BC3.3)

ASU downloads and indicated that it installed but never show any progress in doing so. Say to finish installing you need to restart. I restart and run ASU again and again BC3.1 update is availible. Done this 4 times before I gave up and started searching the web. I have a Macbook Pro

MacBook Pro, Windows 7

hello, In case you haven't resolved your issue, I had the same thing a few years back and again a couple days ago. The issue I had on my Mac Pro early 2008, and hopefully is similar for you is: I have two video drivers, the regular ATI driver and a 3rd party driver for some specialized software. The problem is BC 3.1 tells you it is installing, but it actually does not because of the 3rd party video driver. Solution for me was to remove the 3rd party driver and run ASU again, 3.1 installed fine, I then ran ASU two more times to get up to BC 3.3 and then reinstalled my 3rd party driver.

Hope this helps, if not a video driver for you, maybe some other driver causing the issue.

Hi 78c3sam

Thanks but I did eventualy find the problem.

The link to apple server was/is broke for ASU

to fix- do this

In Windows bottom left click on windows symbol and do a search for "cmd"

then right click and Run as administrator

then Type in "notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" without the quotes

when notepad pops up last line type in

"63.80.242.43 swcatalog.apple.com" again without the quotes

close window and save

now run "Apple Software Updater" it should now work properly

Not sure why this is needed because Apple had seemed to away be good for me

Have a great day

I downloaded the file, it is not corrupted, yours is (so you say) so do it again.

Just for you

this is what SOLVED MY problem back in Sept 2012
