Phone screen is black and will not light up

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until iPhone begins to start, usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons. If still nothing, restore firmware with iTunes on computer. If still nothing, iPhone 4S has Warranty, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.
