Photo Booth Troubleshooting: video background won't register.

I have a mini with a Logitech camera. When I click on the video background it's supposed to say "please step away..." It does this for less than a second and doesn't allow me to get in the picture.

Photo Booth-OTHER, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Hi,

So... a Mac Mini with an External Logitech camera using Photo Booth with Backdrops and Effects and then selecting a Backdrop option.

The Messages should come up from as long as Photo Booth detects movement.

If you stop partially out of the pic that portion of you may display in an odd fashion.

I presume you are saying that Photo Booth is not giving you time to move out of the Frame.

From there I presume you get this sort of thing

It might pay to delete the com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist

I can't see this holds a timing item in it but some standard settings don't show when using Property List Editor.

Have the Finder as the "Front" App

Use th Go Menu

Whilst in Drop down hold the ALT key

Select the Library that appears

In there open Preferences

Find the listed .plist and drag it to the Trash

Restart Photo Booth.

Thanks for the response, Ralph, but that's not exactly what happens.

I choose the video background in Effects. I click on the one I want to use. Instantly the message appears "Please step out of the picture." It literally only appears for less than a second before the message, "Backdrop detected" appears. Then nothing else happens. It's like the camera and software are no longer communicating.

Does this make sense?

HI,

Are you using an Apple Backdrop ?

Do you have others added to the list ?

I have some Add-ons in demo mode from iChatFX that add to the number of pages I can view

Some of them don't work in Mountain Lion

I have not noticed them effect the timing of the "Step Out of Frame" and "Background Detected".

Before you chose the Backdrop are you seeing a normal pic in the middle square ?

Did you try deleting the .plist ?

Umm,

I notice the thread has been moved the the iSight Area.

(Not sure that applies as it is an External third party Camera)

However EZ Jim who posts here the most may have come across something for Photo Booth that I have not.
