Cannot transfer films from Camescope Sony DCR-SR46 (MPEG-2) to MAC OS X Lion 10.7.4. Is there a way?

I can't transfer films from my Camescope Sony DCR-SR46 (mpeg-2) to my Mac Pro with Os x Lion 10.7.4. Apple support says I shoud be able to. Is there a way?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
