Load and run OS 9.2 on iMac Intel Core Duo?

Is it possible to load OS 9.2 onto my new iMac with 10.4.5 in order to run applications which don't run in 10.4.5? I have a few work related app's which I must have working and if this is a big problem I might return this machine!
The message I get when I try to run the "older" applications is that they are "not supported by this computer"!
Nothing is ever easy!

Hi, nlcrysler. Welcome to the Discussions.

Unfortunately, you're out of luck: Mac OS 9 will not run on Intel-based Macs. Accordingly, Classic mode is also not an option on Intel-based Macs, since Classic under Tiger has Mac OS 9.2.2 as a pre-requisite.

With Intel-based Macs, Apple is finally achieving a goal they'd set years ago: the complete sunset of Mac OS 9.

Good luck!

You might want to see if there are native Mac OS X versions of the specific apps and weigh the cost of upgrading those against returning the computer for one still capable of running Classic: an iBook, PowerBook, or Power Mac G5. Note that none of those will startup in Mac OS 9, but they will run Mac OS 9 in Classic mode.

Good luck!
