Q: Magic Mouse keeps losing connection

For the past several days, my magic mouse keeps losing connection to my MacBook Pro, and most of the time it won't even connect at all. I thought the batteries needed changing at first, but that didn't help either. I keep going into my Bluetooth settings to try and manually connect it but, again, it didn't work. Can anyone suggest ways to try to fix this problem?

Well, we don't know if nothing is being done any more than we don't know if they just repackage the faulty ones and send them out again.

The point is, Apple are a big company bent on the profit motive.   Faulty goods are bad news just as much as critical comments are.  We only hear the bad examples here, nobody writes and says their mouse is brilliant.

So I will.   I have an excellent mouse ... but sadly the charger could do with improvement.

Wireless mouse starting dropping connection.  It happened when the mouse touched the edge of my workspace or I picked it up and put it down.

Tried the paper-thing -- seems to be working OK now.

    Using Duracell Quantum batteries.

Magic Mouse keeps losing connection from two computers.  Been anoying for awhile. Batt size is fine.  Turned off the bluetooth from an iPhone 4s & 5, bam works like new again.  That is very anoying. Never used my bluetooth much till I got my last car with the bluetooth feature.

Turning it on an d off will be anoying.  Wireless keyboard & trakpad work fine with no issues when bluetooth is on.

Thank you for the very wise and precise advice .

It worked, just wanted to say i used a hard sandpaper, ( or use soft )

it got at the marks and stains on the inner battery terminals.

so,i would recommend using sandpaper also to remove the worst bits...

Actually, I've found a much easier solution. I just bent the the middle of the battery cover a little bit, it is now working flawlessly.

I assume you mean to bend the cover "in" slightly to press the batteries in tighter. Best to be specific.

In that case, something in-between the cover and the batter to press them in tightly might be another option.

My Magic Mouse has been kicking me too.  I power mine with the mob-e battery and charging system and don't think I have problems with the fit. There's no way to adjust it either, if there is a problem there. The batteries may indeed be problematic for some who are using various sized AA batteries. The only explanation I've seen so far that makes sense is iphone/smartphone location relative to the mouse. Bluetooth interferrence! Why didn't I think of that one?  I've moved it away from the desk 15 feet or so to see if that makes a difference. So, the question is, can it be as simple as moving it away some magic distance or must it be turned off while in proximity to the mouse?

It has everything to do with the batteries staying connected and nothing to do with any Bluetooth interference. At home and at work I'm well away from anyone else using BT devices and would still get kicked off until I started using snugger fitting batteries. As noted by other posters, there are a number of ways to accomplish this.

Okay then - it's time for me to tighten up the Mob-e battery pack. Thanks Kort.

No.   With all the good will in the world there is never a single answer to a multitude of reported problems.  The proximity of other wireless mice (turned on), short wave radio receivers, telephone base units, airconditioners etc have all been found guilty at one time or another.

Yes.  By all means clean all the contact points on the batteries and inside the battery compartment ... and give it a shake to see if there is a rattling sound.

    Fair enough 71.

I had problems even away from such sources, and using the recommended rechargable and making sure the contacts were snug seemed to fix the promblem 99% of the time. There are rare occasions where I'll lose the connection, but a tap of the mouse on the table usually fixes things. There may be other things that effect this mouse, but I found my fix for the 3 I own.

I purchased the apple batteries and I am still having connectivity issues. What next?

My mouse started acting up again. I had been very lazy. I had to take out the battery and clean up the insides. Lent and dirt had accumulated in small plances.

See that little tab of paper in my magic mouse?  That's all I needed to do to keep my connectivity.  It seems that someone needs to do a little re-engineering/design on the cover.  Sheeesh!
