My Epson printer software update cannot update

My Epson printer software notifies me that an update is available. When I begin the install process it fails to "find" the software and to try again.

This has been going on for sometime and whenever the Epson printer software notification pops up, it cannot find the software to download.

It appears that its only available through the App Store as all software updates are.

But here's the catch; There is no Epson software anywhere in the App Store! None!

I searched for "Epson" in the App Store and its says "Your search had no results."

Great. I guess I'm stuck with the current (older) Epson software to use indefinitely?

Here's a good article from Apple about how they handle printer software updates for you: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670

If your specific Epson printer is listed in the "Printer and Scanner Software" link near the top, Apple will keep your software updated for you.

Regardless of whether your printer is listed or not, you will not find it explicitly in the App Store.

I had the same problem. I ran permissions repair and restarted. No more bogus notifications.

Then...

Sorry, the problem came back. I then went to Apple support and downloaded the Epson Update from there. For some reason the update was not available fron the usual software update but was downloadable from the Apple Support. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398

For the last week -- no more annoying pop-ups asking me to update and then not doing anything. Hope this works for you, too.
