How to change default font on Pages?

Hi Vicky,

You can't change the factory templates, but you can create a custom template with your favorite fonts and always begin with that one.

This is made easier if after creating your custom template you go to Pages Preferences and choose For New Documents: Use Template...

Can I switch off Header and Footer for all Users? With children I teach, they are forever starting to type in the header because it's switched on by default. Each has a network user account and I can't see me putting a template into each and every 'my templates' folder (about 200 in all!)

Your question deserves its own thread. But, yes, the same idea works here. Make a custom template with the Headers and Footers deselected, save it as a template, and then make that template the default New Document.

Actually I guess you mean, "no you can't', because I'm going to have to do this 200 times... or at least copy a template to current users with ARD.

I'm not a qualified system administrator, but in my opinion, one worth his/her salt could do this without too much bother.

I know everybody is intimately familiar with the acronym, otherwise you would not use it, but what is ARD?

Is it by any chance next to the 2ARD basket?

ARD = Apple Remote Desktop. At least, that's the first thing that comes to mind since we are dealing with Apples.

Jerrold, thanks for the info. As a new Pages user, I was wondering the same thing.

Just to clarify for others: once you've formatted a document to your liking, choose "Save as Template" under "File". That will add the document to the "My Templates" section of the Templates menu, from which you can then "Choose" to make it your default style for all new documents.
