Bookmarks synced, not showing in Safari

Hi. I bought a Macbook Air today and am trying to set up Safari. I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S and the bookmarks from them should sync perfectly to the Macbook, but...there are issues. They synced, since, when I hit "Show All Bookmarks" in Safari, it shows they are on the notebook, but they don't show when I click Bookmarks from the menu at the top of Safari, which is where they're needed and conveinient. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

PS - I'm in the process of downloading Mountain Lion for it, but figure this might be an issue for 10.7.4 as much as 10.8.1, yet wanted to note that, too.
