Q: Controlling the iMac desktop from a different room using mirroring (mouse/keyboard)?

How are you meant to control the imac desktop from a different room using mirroring (mouse/keyboard)? Is there an app for that? Or a solution?

iMac, Lion, 3.4 i7, 16GB, 6970 2GB

unless your problem is the mouse and keyboard don't have enough reach then it should work out of the box if you use montain lower and use airplay mirror

if you wish to stick witn lion you need to buy the app called Airparot

Even with mirroring (using 10.8) the image is displayed but you cannot control it from a different room.

You would need to search for a VNC client in order to do that.

Tried the trackpad out in the lounge and it worked, it's a little less responsive, but a far cry better than using McTivia with usb bluetooth mouse and/or keyboard. I guess the airplay mirroring is at the stage of an add on gimmick. Perhaps in the future AppleTV versions will come with bluetooth support to allow for serious use of the mirroring, especially with gaming. Thanks people!
