Can't watch Netflix on 10.4.11 (iMac G5)?

I have an older Mac (I believe it's the G5), Mac OSX version 10.4.11. I want to be able to stream Netflix from the internet, but it says I need these minimum requirements:

Mac

  • An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.11 or later
  • Safari 4 or higher; or Firefox 12 or higher; or the latest version of Chrome
  • 1 GB RAM

I tried downloading Google Chrome, because I figured that might fix the problem- but after it downloaded and the window popped up for me to drag it to Applications, the chrome symbol appeared with a "no-symbol" (circle with diagonal line) over it. I couldn't open it because it said it's not supported on this system. I'm not very tech-savvy so any help regarding watching Netflix on this computer would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Jim!

Did you notice this thread is over four years old? The current forum software seems incapable of archiving old dead threads so we all have to look at activity dates much more closely that we did a couple of years ago.

The OP's profile show no recent activity and I suspect he has said goodbye to the onld box by now.

Anyway...I'm not picking on you--this is something that has bitten all of us in recent months!
