    Please explain.

Don't understand.  You want it to say "purchased"?  Where?

Where the price of the song is listed.

Once a song is purchased ghost text usually appears saying "Purchased". This is not the case for many of my purchases. I was wondering if anyone has the same issues. I contacted itunes and did not get an answer, just suggested places to search for solutions.

As I tend to forget some of the music I have purchased (too many bumps to the head I guess), I want to avoid buying the same music twice.

    Thanks for your help.

Ive got this same issue and its starting to **** me off. I liked being able to "see" if I have already bought this song, without having to look through my entire collection to see if I already have it. How do we get this fixed?

This is exactly what I came on find. I don't want to keep going back and forth checking what I did or did not previously purchased. It would only make sense that if my purchase history is on file that it will also record it when I go shopping so I know in one glance which songs I already have or don't have. I do believe this is option is on the mobile devices, but I'm not sure how accurate that keeps track either.

I can't seem to find any info on this and I would think this is something that's a no-brainer.

I am having the same problem. I didn't really until upgrading to iTunes 11. I contacted Support also and didn't really get an answer. I went to an album that I KNOW I've purchased (with the same account), for instance Taylor Swift's new album 'Red' and it doesn' show that I've purchased it. In fact, I clicked on a song from that album and it charged me for it and began to download. So I don't know. Let us know if anyone finds out something!

Been working with customer service for weeks on this problem. Today I got a message saying " In the new version of iTunes, the ability to show items as purchased is no longer present."  They removed this necessary part of the store!  I did submit a complaint to feedback but doubt whether it will do any good. Oh, and purchases do show correctly on the iPad so obviously they can do it just choose not to. Maybe if enough of us complain?

Ok, I think I have something figured out. If you have purchased an ENTIRE album, the album will look normal and you won't see "purchased" anywhere. However, should you click to buy an individual song on the album, or try to buy the entire album, you will get a warning that you've already purchased it and it will give you the option to download it again for free.

If you've purchased some songs but not all from an album, you will still see the "Purchased" and "Complete My Album" options. That's why some of my music appeared to have the ghost text and others didn't.

So again, if you've purchased an entire album, you won't see "Purchased" anywhere. Appartenly that is now reserved as a complete my album feature only now. Hope this helps!

Dave, I have this issue too.

I bought entire album from iTunes, an it downloaded successfullly but song tags such as album name were empty.

I deleted album, but, because it was not in Purchases section, I could not download it again.

I found album in Store and tried to buy it again, but Store told me that I already bought this album so would I like to go to Purchases section and download it from there?

Grrrrr, I do not like when a computer wanna be smarter than me.

I wrote a letter to tech support and paralelly called them. It was on last week.

Today I receive letter that they do something and I must check for the new downloads in iTunes.

OK I done it - and album was downloaded again absolutely correctly.

But it is still unavailable in Purchases section so I cannot download it on another authorized computer. And there's only one way to put this album to my iPhone: over sync.

At the same time, before and after this accident I successfully bought and downloaded on iPhone and two computers 4 another albums.

I guess that in fact there is something wrong with iTunes database farm, but Apple will never tell us about this

What I finally found out was that "Somehow" and I did not do it, all of my purchased songs in the iTunes store got put into Hidden Purchases. Once I put them all back as unhidden, then I was able to view them again.

    Now I have another issue...

I purchased a whole album and a partial album a few days ago. They show up in my purchased items on my account but when I look at the album in the iTunes store, the songs I purchased do not say purchased. They still show the price as if I never bought them. So now when I find a song I like I have to look in my local library to see if I already have it before I inadvertently buy it a second time.

After searching further that this is occuring on a large part of the songs I bought.

Just want to say that I never had any issues with itunes before version 11

    Disappointing!

    THANK YOU very much!

My album really was in hidden purchases. I unhide it, and now problem gone.

No!  This doesn't help.  It doesn't stop you from purchasing a song twice.  My son keeps doing it--and I tell him: "I bought that song last month!"  iTune 11--together with the change than no longer allows you to gift a playlist--is extremely frustrating.  Come on iTunes!

Besides--Genius recommendations continue to recommend songs I have already purchased on iTunes--maddening!
