automation curves stuck at right angles

My automation curves are working fine in Logic 9, with one exception. When I try to create a pitch bend curve on a track with my EXS 24, I can only get right angle curves, straight up or straight down are the only changes I can make to the curve.

Volume and Pan ramp and curve just fine, only Pitch Bend is restricted to straight up and straight down. What kind of setting overrides this restiction?

What you are automating there is not the pitch bend wheel - this would not show up in track automation (shows up as region automation or hypderdraw - MIDI CC#'s). The track automation called "pitch bend up/down" is how many steps up/down (or linked) that the pitch bend wheel will move the pitch (in half-steps or semitones), so you only have whole numbers to choose from.
