Why is AirPrint quality poor

I have just bought a HP Photosmart 7510. When I print. Photo from my PC the quality is really good. When I print the same photo from my IPAD via AirPrint the quality is poor. The colours aren't as good and the photos look smudged. This is using the same paper.

Is there something I can do to improve the quality via AirPrint? This is the reason I bought the printer?

Thanks

Ian

Due to certain limitations to printing, the iPad (or iPhone) is not going to have the proper calibaration that PC's and Macs have due to additional drivers. Also, from what I have seen out of photos printing, the resolution is lowered to create a smaller file to beam across the air. I get this same issue myself with photos, but I usually use something other than my iPhone or iPad to print photos.

The source of the photo is a digital camera (14MP). I transfer the photo to the iPad directly from the SD card using the apple camera adapter. I'm printing on HP photo paper.

I then transferred the image from the iPad to my PC and then printed that image from the PC onto the same photo paper. This is how I know the problem isn't with the image on the iPad, but something to do with printing that image via AirPrint.
