Adidas Micoach Connect for iPhone 4 error: "this accessory is not supported by iphone"

I just bought the entire Adidas Micoach running trainer, including sensors and the Adidas Connect adapter for iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1). When I insert the Connect adapter, I get an error that says "this accessory is not supported by iPhone". I have tried everything I can think of, including restarting the phone, re-installing the software, cleaning the connection port on the phone, etc. Nothing seems to work and I can see from several other forums that many other people are having the same problems. I have tried the adapter on another exact same phone, and it works. So the problem appears to be my iPhone. Adidas told me they cannot help since the adapter works on the other phone. Can someone please help, I would really like to use this device with my iPhone?

Problem resolved: Replaced the charging port on my Iphone 4S.

Error: This accessory is not supported by iPhone

Steps tried but did not work:

1) reset the phone to factory settings.

2) updated to latest OS.

3) cleaned the charging port

4) been to ifix store - they said all was fine and the problem was with the micoach device.

5) the device worked on all other phones but mine.

6) tried a different device also.

7) tested the iphone on a dock and it worked fine.

8) charging works fine.

9) micoach dongle still refused to work.

Finally took it to a friend who said it was the iphone which was not giving the dongle enough power.

he replaced the port and it works perfectly.
