How do I record for more than 15 minutes at a time?

I notice that when I start recording there is a 15 minute countdown and then the application starts making overviews of each track and stops recording. I want to be able to record a live 2 hour concert with Logic. Please tell me there is a way to extend a recording beyond 15 minutes. If it can't be done I am going to kill a saleman at Guitar Center for selling me this instead of the ProTools system I was going to buy.

Set audio record path will allow you configure the time to whatever you please- hard disk size permitting. Also, you avoid going to jail....

after your dine recording, if possible, cut the 2hr master into sections. logic likes short files.

Everytime you will start a new project and press record on an audio track that Set Audio recording path will show up,there you can change the time.

Also there's a Key command(alt+K) for it>set audio recording path

or press A and the Set audio dialog will appear
(hope A is the same key command there as i don't remember if i have had it changed)

also there is a bar restriction in Logic. It cannot record past bar 2158, so that mean at 120 BPM you can only recored for about 70 min. so to recored a two hour show you will need to slow down the tempo to get more recording time. 60 BPM will give you about 140 min

so slow down the tempo 1st, then go to set record path (key command A) and choose record time minutes

Thanks guys. I wish I'd have known this preference before I tried recording a live band the other night. I'd also like to know if there is any logical reason behind Apple setting a 15 minute time limit as the default. I may have lost an important job because of this but I'll live.

I think they did it this way so absent minded musicians don't hit record and walk away and answer the phone and get coffee and fill up thier hard drives with nothing. or not.

In case anyone is curious, it is so Logic manages hard drives better when recording if it knows how much space it needs. Giving less fragmented files and ultimately better performance. If you use massive drives with lots of free space then It shouldn't be very noticeable.

Sometimes I set my record limit deliberately to a low number (like 4 minutes on a 3.5 minute tune) so that I can walk away, let Logic do it's thing (like record an external MIDI part) and go get a cup of coffee or something in the meantime. When I come back I trim the part (key commands, yay!) and I'm good to go. Sometimes I feel it's worth the tiny bit of extra time it takes me to trim the part after the fact than babysit a part as it's going down.

Kenneth, I'm really sorry to hear that you may have lost a gig because of this situation.
