I have iCloud set up however I don't know where to go on my iPad or iPhone to find the saved documents on my Mac, cloud

An what documents would they be? If you saved, say, a Pages document to icloud from the mac, then on an iOS device you must invoke Pages. That's generally true of all documents saved to icloud (and there aren't that many types of files that can do this). You must open the appropriate app on the device and access the file on icloud through that app. To do this you must have current versions of iOS apps like Pages, Numbers, etc.
