Q: Desktop icons rows screwed up help!

Hey on my powerbook g4 12 inch, the desktop icon rows seem to be off line. For example, i have Macintosh HD on my desktop in the top right corner and if i clean up the rows by going to view>clean up and the Macintosh HD icon goes halfway under the finder bar. I tried making a new user and that worked for a bit but then started again. How can this be fixed?

Thanks

    Hello,

Sounds to me like the screen resolutions have been incorrectly set on your PowerBook.

Which version of Mac OS X are you running and which PowerBook do you own?

Its running 10.5.8 and another thing, when i press F7 the display goes to a blank background as if there was a secondary display. How can i remove this because i dont need it and its annoying when i hit the F7 key and it takes a sencond to go to my wallpaper. If i go to displays in settings and arrangement, there is one display slightly higher and to the left of another. (i will try to add a picture but i am new to this) it also happens in desktop and screensaver.Picture 1.png

    Hello,

Try unclicking the box that says 'mirror display'

After which come back out of that preference, go back in and click 'detect display'

This should default the screen to the internal monitor only.

It seems that your PowerBook is setup for a secondary display, that isn't connected.

Was the Mac OS X 10.5 install done using a retail DVD disk or a grey system Disk?  (retail disks have a big X on it)

    Hey,

I unchecked the mirror display but then it brought me to the plain background with its seperate display options. I clicked detect display but nothing happend. I clicked gather windows then click 'detect display' but nothing happend again, so i hit F7 and it took me back but the 'mirror display' is now checked again. Also when i get to the 'other display' it has a desktop image that a previously had.

I upgraded useing the retail DVD

    Hello,

    That didn't seem tow work.

Try resetting the PRAM and see if that helps

I reset the PRAM then I tried to uncheck mirror displays and it took me to the 'external display' again. Is there any other way of returning to the built in display without pressing the F7 key? Or any other method of resolving this issue?

    Thanks.
