Ok, I usually share a video over Messages on my phone, but I downloaded my video off my phone (deleted) to iPhoto and then tried to share. Nope, doesn't seem to work. Why not?? Maybe i'm an idiot for saying so, but this seems idiotic for not working.

That doesn't help. Exporting a video only exports it as a photo... am I missing something??
You're missing something:
FIle -> Export and set the Kind to Original
Oh, nice. Apologies. When I did that and started the export the file was named "IMG_xxxx" and I thought it would export as an image.

I would certainly like better video support through iphoto though, or the ability to automatically import videos to iMovie and photos to iPhoto, without having to open and close the programs. That would be nice.
