What happens when you go to Settings>Store and sign out and then sign in with her account?

If she has apps that need updating you will have to sign into here account to update them If apps purchased from more that one account need update you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased with one account.

The Users Guide for your iOS

http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_touch_2.2_User_Guide.pdf

says to purchase stuff.

1 Tap the price, then tap Buy Now.

If you were signed in to your iTunes Store account in iTunes the last time you synced

iPod touch, you don’t have to enter your account ID. Otherwise, you are prompted to

enter your account ID

Thus, it appears that with your iOS you have to sign iTunes into your account and then sync with iTunes on the computer to change the ID on the iPod.

You may also want to update to the last iOS for your iPod. That is a paid update that you get here:

I have the same problem... iPot Touch 1 Generation, iOS 1.1.5 whenever I try iTunes it says "Cannot connet to iTunes Store", wi-fi connection is fine but I suppose it's because it has my (ex-) boyfriend Apple ID. How do I change it?

Store does not exist in the settings... There is no Restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions)...
