Safari 6
Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari
Click: Clear History (also empties the cache)
Deselect the other boxes, then click Reset.
Quit and relaunch Safari.
So what you're saying is I have no option anymore to just empty the cache...I have to do the history as well. Not sure I want to do that.
Or, you can do it the way that Dominic explains. That only empties the cache.
Did that and it cleared my history as well.
I just emptied the cache via the Develop menu, and my history list remains intact.
This function does not delete the Safari cache.db file, which contains details on all pages the user has visited. The only way to delete it is to do so manually in the Finder. Chrome and Firefox both delete their cache.db file when the user clears their browser data. Only Safari fails to do this.
