Recovering lost Safari bookmarks

I found the solution when I went to iCloud in Settings and saw that Safari had been turned off (from syncing with iCloud I suppose). Turning it ON restored my bookmarks. Why it was OFF is the next mystery,

Lost all my bookmarks one by one on all my periphery equipment (iPhone5, ipads, kids' iPhone, etc...) then, finally, my MacBook Pro.

Lost more of my hair due to hair pulling of self...

So, here's how I got them back:

1. The issue is with syncing Safari with the iCloud

2. Open iTunes on your computer

3. Plug device into computer for sync

4. DESELECT Safari under iCloud on device

5. On iTunes, go to Info tab

6. Scroll down to Other

7. Select Sync Safari Bookmarks ( This option is not available if Safari is ON on your device. This will work wether or not the bookmarks are on your computer or not... Mine magically came back from the ether)

8. Select Apply and begin sync

9. Rejoyce and buy a frosty beverage in the name of an "internet solution".

((your results may vary, but it's worked on 5 of my devices including my MacBook))

Open System Preferences > iCloud and deselect Safari.

Unfortunately, if you didn't have any backups, that data is probably gone for good. File recovery software probably won't help, though it can't hurt to try. It's possible that Safari created a new Bookmarks.plist file in a temporary folder, wrote the changes to it, then deleted the old one and replaced it with the new one. (I'm not sure whether it would use that technique internally, or would just open the file, write the changes to it and then close it again.) If it does work that way, the old one may still be present and not overwritten. I wouldn't say that's likely, though. Try it with Data Rescue and see what you get.

This should be your cue to start backing up ASAP, before you lose something more important!

Ok. I found a solution. Open Safari and click the tab to add a bookmark. When I did this all my bookmarks can back. I arbitrarily added the bookmark and then went back toy bookmarks and all were there.

Today, all my Bookmarks are gone, replaced with Tabs from my MacBook.

I do not want Tabs, so I turned off the link from iCloud, and they are gone but Bookmarks still do not appear.

I just followed your advice, DumbBunny, and synced with Bookmarks selected, then quit and restarted Safari, and the Bookmarks are back.

This just happened with my iPhone, too. I tried all the fixes you did. Shutting down Safari worked. I am happy that I did not lose the bookmarks I had added to my iPhone with the help of iPhone Bookmark Recovery.

You deleted bookmarks from Safari?

They're most likely gone.

You might try going through Safari's history to see if they're there and you can bookmark 'em again, but AFAIK, file recovery tools only work on recovering files deleted from the file system. Unless you explicitly went in and deleted the Safari Bookmarks.plist file, I am not sure how those would be helpful.

Then again, I could be wrong about this.

I do something useful for recovering lost Safari bookmarks. So I have never encountered this problem personally.

You can recover deleted Safari bookmarks from iPhone at ease. Follow:

===>Now Launch iTunes in your PC.

===>Select your Device there by clicking on your device.

===>After connecting click on Backup & Storage option there.

Okay I've upgraded to ios6 and now my Safari bookmarks are gone. ***! I want them back. I wasn't asked and I don't understand why they are gone. Please help! Do I have to restore off of iOS 6?????
