Connecting Apple TV to campus network

I have an Apple TV (brand new 2012). I'm at college. To connect to the network you need to log in via web browser. I've tried that anyways. I've tried setting up my own wireless router, but I can't get that to connect to the school network, even on my laptop (if anyone could help with that). Is it possible the school is blocking it? There are other wifi networks set up in the dorm building that my laptop can detect. So I know it's working for some people at least. I've also tried to use my laptop as a mask to grant access to the ATV, but I didn't have a clue what I was doing. (I got that idea from this http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_apple_tv_does_not_work_in_a_hotel_wi-fi).

Any new ideas are so welcome. Any advice or help or anything. Let me know if you need more info. I'm sure I've forgotten some important things. Thanks so much in advance!
