MIGRATING DATA FROM EXTERNAL HDD (PC FILES) TO NEW MBP

I am new to Mac and am in need of migrating all files from my old PC to my new MBP. All my files are on an external HDD, since I am no longer in possession of the PC. Is there a quick and easy way to migrate all my files over? When I use the migration assistant, it is not recognizing my HDD; however, I do see my HDD under 'Devices,' where I can drag and drop files to my MAC. Needless to say, that may take forever to do. I would appreciate some assistance. Thanks in advance!

It may take forever, but copying the files from your external hard drive is your only choice. If you still had your PC, you could use Migration Assistant, but it would take as long, if not longer...
