Back Arrow In Safari Help!!

I just updated my macbook pro software to Mountain Lion, and in the Safari browser there is no back or forward arrows, so I can't go to a page I recently viewed. I must open a new tab/window to see the page I was previouly looking at. Please Help!! Thanks 🙂
