I just installed mtn lion and when I went to print off some photographs using epson r2880 printer epson paper and ink, epson icc profiles and a calibrated monitor I sadly get prints that all the reds are way off, I down loaded the driver from Apple

on its release I uploaded mountain lion from lion all the time I ran Lion I had no problems, but and its a Big but since installing mountain lion I seem to have major problems when I print of photographs.

I use epson r2880 printer and epson paper and ink I also use epson icc profiles and a calibrated monitor but when I print using PS5 or LR 4 the prints are comming out very weak colours and the reds are orange.

I have tried removeing drivers and reinstalling but still the same the driver Apple is installing is 9.0

I think I'm having the same problem. I print mostly black and white, and since the OS update, my prints are very low in contrast. Also, I print with sharp black borders around my images, and now the straight black edges are fuzzy with little gradiated specks coming off the normally well-defined borders. I can't have this! I will contact Epson and hopefully get some sort of response. Any help or continued discussion would be appreciated. Thanks, everyone.

Epson replied

Thank you for contacting Epson regarding your Epson Stylus Photo R2880.

We have seen an increase in calls of users using 10.7/10.8 with darkness or color issues. We do know this issue is coming from Adobe programs and they are aware of it and have told customers to test this by printing a photo from Apples Preview program, something other than an Adobe program. So if you right click on a jpeg file and select "open with", choose Preview and make settings here and print, the print should come out more like you are used to seeing. If it comes out normal, then this will tell you the program is the issue and you will need to contact Adobe for a fix or an update.

I subsequently did a color test print with Preview from an exported photo from Lightroom 4. I used Color Sync to manage the color with my icc profile to match the paper. The color came out perfectly. I then printed the picture with LR having the application manage the color and the reds remain washed out with an unacceptable print.

So it looks like the problem is with Adobe, not Epson.

I am having exactly the same problem as the rest of the group, iMac with Mountain Lion driver 9.0, Epson R2880 printer, Adobe Lightroom 4.0/Elements 11, and using the recommended settings. Using the Apple Preview program to print, I get a much closer photo to what is on the screen, although not quite as bright. The colors and brightness/dullness is very evident using the Adobe products. I will also need to contact Adobe as I am a semi-professional and cannot tolerate this. I'm a recently converted PC guy, and was looking forward to the presumed better color/photo quality of the Mac. I hope to have that disappointment turned around. SteveSchwiesow
