iPad 2 will not turn on.

My iPad 2 will not turn on. It was working fine last night. I had it charging over night using the adapter it came with. This morning the iPad 2 displays a slightly lit black screen (not the off screen) when I hit the power button. There is no apple symbol, nor anything else on the screen. I tried resetting it, but the same issues continued. I plugged it into my laptop, but my itunes does not recongize it. No matter what I do nothing appears on screen but that dimly lit black screen, so I'm not sure how to set it into recovery mode. Any ideas?

Do it a few more times.

Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Was it a proper Reset you tried? Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

Failing that you might hav to put it into recovery mode - See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -

Force iPad into Recovery Mode

1. Turn off iPad

2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone

3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen

5. Release the Home button

6. Open iTune

7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"

8. Use iTune to restore iPad

Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times.
