Q: NO VOLUME FOR ME

My I-pod PC540LL HAS LOST SOUND FOR YOU TUBE , GAMES ETC... VOLUME ADJUST BUTTONS WITH NOT SHOW ON SCREEN TO INCREASE OR DECREASE VOLUME WHEN DEPRESSED ???I HAVE RESET THE UNIT, SHUT DOWN AND TURN UNIT BACK ON AND STILL HAVE NOTHING AS FAR AS VOLUME..

iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1

    - Does the speaker work?

    - Only the headphones?

    - Try restoring from backup. If problem persists, restore to factory settings/new iPod.

    - If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
