Remember, changing Safari's appearance (skin) means changing its code. Sometimes, this can adversely affect Safari performance.

This site you mention is used by people who like to hack computer programs.

Changing the skins doesn't necessarily make the browser run slower. It could though affect Safari's functioning leading to crashes. Same with iTunes. If you are not absolutely certain about what you are doing, and understand the affect the change has on Safari or iTunes (are there any reputable reviews to read), then I suggest leaving well enough alone. Just my 2¢.
