Changing from IBM to MacBookPro

Hi - I'm HOPING to be able to purchase a Mac book pro. My concern is that I have 20 years of email and word files that are in IBM format. I'm trying to understand how difficult it will be to transfer this data to a Mac Book Pro. Thanks so much!
