Hi, I recently bought the new iPad and, not having my computer handy, set it up iTunes-lessly. Now that I have access to my computer I want to sync it, but don't seem to be able to even using some of the guides online (which say to authorise computer and sync etc) can someone please help me because this is extremely frustrating!

Is the iPad recognized by iTunes when connected - available under Devices in the iTunes source list?
If so, what does you don't seem to be able to sync it mean?
After making your selections under the various tabs for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes followed by selecting sync, nothing happens?
Any error message provided?
Yes recognised and can't sync it without starting over like with a new iPad. Sorry, I wasn't very clear was I!
You are getting the iTunes will erase the iPad message becues it hasn't been synced with this computer before?
If so, read this. It is very informative. Some of it may not apply, but it takes you through all of the steps to make the iTunes library on your computer your syncing library.
Is there no way to do it for free then? 😟 Why is Apple so crap with this kind of thing?! At the very least a warning about setting the iPad up without a computer and how you won't be able to sync it to any iTunes if you do so! I mean my iPad and iTunes are both signed into the same account and everything, so why can't I just start transferring my music over once it's checked that?
Much of this has to do with making it harder to steal music at the request or demand of music labels or those who own the distribution rights. Apple is the largest distributor of music in the US if not the world so many more watchful eyes are upon them.
There is a warning message provided, which you were provided or you wouldn't be here.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, and iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your computer authorized with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPad connected and without syncing at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPad.
For any iTunes content not purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store, there are a number of paid utilities that provide for this which are not supported by Apple.
