My 2008 MacBook pro does not power on, help!

My 2008 MacBook pro does not power on, help! Battery is charged, power cord is good but no response at all to power button. I have removed the battery and held the power button, but nothing works. I had this problem before my warrantee ran out and I took it to the Genius counter but they said nothing was wrong with it. Of course now that the service contract is expired, it is doing it again. It is an early 2008 15" MacBook pro.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

I have tried both of those KB articles and fear I will have to bite the bullet and take my machine to a Genius bar for help. The funny thing is that this started out as an intermittent issue where it would flake out for a couple of days then it would run great for a couple of days. now it just won't turn on at all.
