playing a film simultaneously on two ipads

Macology mentioned this in a post above .... If you want to lay out the cash for something like this. It will stream to 8 devices at the same time.

Could work, but it wouldn't stream the same instance of the content, would it? Just allow access to the same files. Unless you manually timed the start of a movie between the two devices, but you could attempt to do that by just synching the same movie and woildn't need the HD.

Airplay will allow you to stream from an iOS device to a receiving device, be it an Apple TV, a computer or a set of speakers. However, Airplay does not allow you to stream from an iOS device to an iOS device. You can either sync the dame movie to both devices (assuming that they share the same iTunes account) or you can loom into a Segate Satelite wireless HDD. It allows you to stream content from the drive to an iOS device. However, I am not sure if it allows you to stream to two separate devices simultaneously.

I don't know if the streaming of the movies would be simultaneous - unless he could do it manually like you say. And certainly syncing the movies to both iPads would cost a whole lot less than one of these HD's, but with a set of earphones for each child and a whole selection of movies from which to select, each child could watch their own movie and mom and dad could drive along in silent bliss if they would care to do so. According to the specs, you can stream 3 different movies at once.

I was merely expounding on what Macology suggested by pointing the OP to the website for the HD in case he had any interest. If it was me .... I would opt for syncing the same movie to both iPads, give both kids earbuds and not worry about whether the playback was simultaneous! 😁

You actually only need the mac for uploading the content to the devices. You can control the devices using another iOS device. You don't need the Mac as the server to playback the files simulatenously across other devices

Nope, doesn't work that way.

There really is no way to strap two iPads together to run the same content.

Either that, or sedatives 😁

Since it requires a server source using OS X, in the car, not so much.

You mean that the mac is no longer needed once the content has been uploaded to other iOS devices?
