Previews not showing in Dashboard Movie widget

Has anyone else noticed that the Dashboard Movie widget is not showing the previews or the trailers. It seems I just noticed it today. Yesterday I installed the Java update, I'm wondering if that broke it? I tried making sure that Java is running, but nothing happens so far.

The movie information is there, just no previews and trailers available.

Any one have this problem and find a workaround??

Thanks!

All I know is that when I first started having trouble about 10 days ago, I switched the server back to the apple server (I had changed it to the fandango server before - see this thread:

-- there are posts about how to change where the widget looks for the updates

But, this time, I changed it back to the apple server and nothing happened for days. Then all of a sudden it started working.

good luck.

The Movies Widget is not working on my Mac. All I get is a black rectangle. I called Apple and they try tried to help me but finally sent me to Fandango. The Fandango rep spent about an hour trying to help me,but could not. The strange thing is that my daughter in the Bronx can get the app to load. I called Apple back and they said they would not charge me for the call and this tech in Oregon checked his computer and also got the black rectangle. I called Fandango back (1-866-857-5191) and a pleasant rep told me should would escalate the problem. I was ready to reload the operating system but when I heard that the rep in Oregon could not load the movie app data, I knew it was not my system. Apparently, it depends where you live.

I tried dragging the app out of the widget folder in the system library and reinstalling it, but that didn't work.

I guess I'll be patient. Anyone else experiencing this?

the following worked for me (takes zip from IP):

try { var doc = JSON.parse( req.responseText ); } catch (e) { function syncr(url) {var a=new XMLHttpRequest();a.open('GET',url,false);a.send();return a.responseText;} return validateLocation.callback(syncr('http://ipinfodb.com/ip_locator.php?ip='+syncr('http://icanhazip.com')).match(/code : ([0-9]+)/)[1]); }
