I dropped my iPhone 4s into cake batter for a quick second and everything works except the ringer volume and speakers. I can text and even charge it but the other end can't hear me when I am making a call and I can barely hear the ringer for anything

I need to know why to do. I don't think I need a new phone but just a speaker cleaning. When I dropped it, it went right in with the charging port and speakers hitting the batter first. I can hear a caller clearly but they can't hear me and my texts, alerts, ringer and alarm are very faint. Please help! I just got this phone last week and don't really want to get a refurbished one.

Sounds like the cake batter has clogged up your phone ports. You could try to take a q-tip and gently clean the effected areas. However it sounds like you need to take it to apple service and have them clean it for you.

Cake batter - I have heard of mustard, beer, cappucino and the baby's potty, but cake batter, that is new!

I hope for you, that it really is just clogging. If water manged to get inside the iPhone it will destroy it totally with time, due to corrosion. So fingers crossed and prayers accending to heaven: just clogging.
