Is there anyway to install Starcraft?

I have a new intel iMac, and would love to install Starcraft on it so that I can play it again. I know that it is a hybrid disc, but I'm guessing since there is no universal for it yet, that is the problem that I am having. I have searched around the net, and have not found a solution to this problem.

Does anyone else have an intel mac, and has been able to get starcraft to install and run?

To install StarCraft and Brood War use the OSX installer that's available for download from Blizzard here:
http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/starcraft/patches/Mac/StarCraftOS_XInstaller.dmg

Here are the release notes for the OS X installer:

It's a PPC app, but runs fine under Rosetta. The installer will allow you to install Starcraft and Broodwar to your Intel system from the CDs. Once installed, Starcraft and Broodwar will run great even though they aren't Universal. They are old enough that they won't be pushing your system at all.

As to installing the demo--I don't know of a way since the demos themselves haven't been updated for OS X. My advice is pick up a copy of the Starcraft Battle Chest and skip the demo. I picked one up today at CompUSA for $20--cheap as shareware for a full game plus expansion and strategy guides.

I have played starcraft since the 1st year it came out. When I recently switched to Mac and OSX (about 1 year ago) I stopped playing. Recently I got the urge to play again so I tried to install it. It didn't work even with the new installer, the cause being that the versions were to old and were not compatible with both windows and OSX. So I went to the store and bought the battlechest for $20 and was really excited to start playing again. I installed it without fail on my mac mini (before I got my MacBook). Everything seemed to work fine, I was able to get onto battlenet, I downloaded the patch, and started playing games. Then within 20 minuted the Starcraft Brood War crashed (I also tried with normal Starcraft and the same thing happend). I thought it might be a freak thing, but it happened at least 10 more times. Even re-installing the program did nothing. I checked every possible thing I could do on the Blizzard support website, but nothing worked. I figured it must be the computer, because my brother has a PowerMac G5 and his Starcraft works flawlessly. My MacBook was already in the mail being shipped so I figured I would just wait for it and install it on that. I was excited because starcraft worked great (a little slow because of rosetta, but at least it wasn't crashing), untill about a few days ago when it suddenly crashed again. I was getting pretty annoyed, but hoped it was a one time freak thing. Then it happened again and again and again!! Now I'm pretty upset considering I spent $20 for the newest version and it won't let me finish playing a game. I am so discouraged I stopped playing it altogether and put the discs back in the box lol. If anyone can please tell me what to do and help me out tremendously I would be extremely grateful. Looking at every forum I could find I didn't see anyone else who had this problem. Hopefully someone who reads this will be able to help me.

Thanks in advance,
Julian
