This is the second day this week that I go to use the talk to text, i press the icon, speak, and the purple dots appear in the bar and nothing happens. I try again. Still no text will appear. I ask siri to text for me and a few moments later, she says that she is sorry, but is unavailble at this time. hmmmm

This might be a connection or a microphone issue.
- Check if your microphone works fine during calls and voice memo recordings, check if it is blocked.
- check your internet connection, reset the iPhone and if neccessary reset the network settings from settings>general >reset . Then reconnect to the internet
- switch SIRI off an back on
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.
"I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while." That is what Siri has been telling me for the last 24 hrs
Reset did not help me get siri back... "I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while." is all she will say
I have been having the same problem for the last two days with both my iPhone 4s and New iPad. I live in the Miami area.
I have tried several different suggestions and nothing has worked.. I am in the Boston area on verizon.
I am about to "restore" my iPhone... uuggghh

I would wait if I were you. I do not believe the problem has to do with your phone. Service issue more likely.
Hi---just saw this post... I'm in W Mass and have been experiencing the same problem---and, like carlos, also on both devices. My sense is that it is not hardware-related---if it were on one but not the other, then yeah, a restore might be in order....but the fact that it's on both iPhone/iPad simultaneously seems more like a server issue...
Then again, what do I know.
Please keep me posted as to any progress/solutions (I will do same). Thanks.
I figure it had to be hardware since there are so few of us havung this issue.. I restored my iphone and Siri is back just as helpful as ever! A painstaking process, but siri is worth it! Good luck!
Interesting! Well I'm glad to hear that worked for you....
I'm still a little skeptical about doing the same with mine since it's on both devices---unless of course the glitch somehow got "shared" through iCloud or something weird like that...!?
Incidentally, did I mention that the issue isn't exclusively with Siri but the general dictation function as well? (I assumed that was understood, since the tablet doesn't have Siri...)

Siri (and dictation) were working for about an hour after I restored my iPhone... Now, they are not working again.
It is puzzling since there seem to be so few of us having this issue. I can not help but wonder if there is a particular app that might be interferring...??
Just for the record I have:
Reset my iPhone (multiple times)
Reset my network settings
Turned Siri off and on
Restored my iPhone (which worked for a brief amount of time)
Please keep me updated if you come acoss anything.
