Facebook Not working

I just isntalled 10.8.2 Build 12C43, and tried to configure facebook. is anyone else getting this errer "unable to verify username and password" when trying to add Facebook to their account list? I cannot seem to figure it out for the life of me.

what I've tried so far:

- Clean shudown and powerup

- confirmed my password on facebook by logging out and typing it. interestingly enough, whan i login, safari asks for permission to alllow other apps, and then i see a window trying to do something, and thats it. no confirmation or anything. and the account is not added in system preferenes.

- removed twitter account from system preferences

I'm not sure what else to do. there is almost absoulutly no information on this at all for some reason, here or on facebook help. your help would definitly be appreciated.
