how to change owner of file

I want to change the owner of files located on a distant harddisk, connected to an iMac.

I have access to this distant iMac and hard disk via a LAN.

When I open "Get info" and try to add a new owner, the system requires the name of the user. I enter my session's name. It is rejected.

Does someone know how to proceed ?
