Lion and Moutain Lion can record a smaller portion of your display using QuickTime 10.1 or 10.2.

If your machine supports the upgrades then you should combine QuickTime player Pro 7 and QuickTime 10.1 or 10.2.

If your machine can't be upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion then you could use third party software:

My machine does not support the upgrade. So can i use imovie a screen recorder or is there a way that imovie can record me and the screen with quick time. I have imoive09 i couldn't download the imovie11 because its has to be on the 10. 7 machine which i only have the 10.6 so soon i will get a new computer but right now i want to work with want i got on my machine. So is there a way for imovie09 works with quicktime like me at the bottom talking and showing people on how to do things.
